Facebook Timeline Removal Trick

My name is Adam Luftig. I am from Syosset, New York. I am a second semester freshman at Ithaca College. I am running a YouTube channel named Razor Rock Media.

This simple step by step tutorial will teach you how to get rid of the new Facebook Timeline. It will be removed for every profile you are looking at. If your profile is using the timeline, it will still appear that way for everyone that is not using my method. It is easy to do the Facebook Timeline Removal Trick on both PC's and Mac's. You will be able to undo this if you decide you do prefer the Facebook timeline instead of the old layout.

Step #1: Download and install the internet browser Mozilla Firefox.

Step #2: Download and install the add-on User Agent Switcher.

Step #3: Download and install the add-on Adblock Plus.

Step #4: Download and install the add-on Element Hider for Adblock Plus

Step #5: Get the Firefox menu bar by right clicking next to your currently open tabs and clicking "Menu Bar". Alternatively, you can click the orange Firefox button on the top left of Firefox, hover your mouse over option, and click "Menu Bar".





Step #6: In Firefox, go to the tools drop down menu, hover your mouse over "Default User Agent, however your mouse over Internet Explorer, and click "Internet Explorer 7".

That's it, the timeline should be gone once you go to someone's page that is using timeline.
The rest of the steps are optional if you want to remove the profile gap. Removing the Facebook profile gap will also remove the person's name from their profile.

Step #7: Get the Firefox Add-On Bar by right clicking next to your currently open tabs and clicking "Add-On Bar". Alternatively, you can click the orange Firefox button on the top left of Firefox, hover your mouse over option, and click "Add-On Bar".

Step #8: While looking at a Facebook profile with the gap between their name and their 5 most recent pictures, click on the red Adblock Plus shield that should be somewhere on your screen, and click "Select an element to hide".

Step #9: While there is a red box around everything you hover your mouse over, hover your mouse around the profile gap and click it. Then click "Add element hiding rule".

Now this whole technique works around the fact that Facebook has not yet configured the timeline feature to appear for people using Internet Explorer 7. The keyword here is yet. That is why this method works, because you are tricking Facebook into thinking you are using Internet Explorer 7 when you are really using Mozilla Firefox. If you do everything correctly and the timeline is still showing up, maybe Facebook did setup the timeline to appear for people using Internet Explorer 7. If that is the case, I will look into finding another method of getting rid of the timeline. I am writing this script on 12/22/11. Take a look at the date right now, and if it’s like a pretty long time since today, Facebook most likely did patch this. Hey, Nothing lasts forever right?

Steps for UNDOING the Facebook Timeline Removal Trick:

Step #1: Go to tools in the Mozilla Firefox menu bar, and hover your mouse over Internet Explorer 7, then click “default user agent.”

Step #2: Find the Adblock Plus red shield, click it, and then click disable everywhere.
